ACNE
ACNE
Acne, wargh!!! My skin looks so ugly!!! When talking about acne, usually mens don’t really bother about it including me, but girls do. So what is acne? Lets get to know acne more closer so that we will know how to treat it.
Acne is perhaps the most common chronic skin disease. It is an inflammatory condition of the sebaceous (that is fat or grease) glands and hair follicles usually found on the face, the neck, chest and shoulders. Nearly eight out of ten young people between the ages of 12 and 24 suffer from some degree of acne. It is closely related to the disturbance in the hormones experienced at puberty.
The majority of patients recover between the ages 20 and 30 years. But it is still common in men over 30 years. In women, it rarely lasts beyond the early thirties and is normally worse before each menstrual period. The disease causes a great deal of embarrassment at an age when people tend to be sensitive about personal appearance.
CAUSES
All forms of acne have their origin in wrong feeding habits, such as irregular hours of eating, improper food, excess of starches and sugar, excess of fatty foods. Chronic constipation is another major cause of acne. If the bowels do not move properly, waste matter is not eliminated as quickly as it should be and the bloodstream becomes surcharged with toxic matter.
The extra efforts of the skin to eliminate excess waste result in acne and other forms of skin disease. Yet another important cause of acne is a devitalized condition of the skin resulting from unhygienic living habits. Other causes of the disorder are excessive use of tea, coffee, alcohol or tobacco, strenuous studies, masturbation and sedentary habits which lead to indigestion and general debility.
Treatment
The treatment of acne by the administration of salve or ointment does not serve any purpose. They only suppress the action of the sebaceous glands temporarily. In nature cure, the main emphasis is on diet and certain water applications. To begin with the patient should resort to all -fruit diet for about a week. IN this regimen, there should be three meals a day, consisting of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grape-fruit, pineapple and peaches. Citrus fruits, bananas, dried, stewed or tinned fruits should not be taken. Unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be drunk and nothing else.
During this period, warm -water enema should be taken daily to cleanse the bowels and all other measures adopted to eradicate constipation. After a week of all fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well-balanced diet.
Emphasis should be on raw foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables, sprouted seeds, raw nuts and whole grain cereals, especially millet and brown rice. Further shorter periods on the all-fruits for three days, or so may be necessary at a monthly interval till the condition of the skin improves.
Strict attention to diet is essential for recovery. Starchy, protein and fatty foods, should be restricted. Meats, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, refined and processed foods should all be avoided, as also soft drinks, candies, ice cream and products made with sugar and white flour.
Two vitamins, namely, niacin and vitamin A have been used successfully to treat acne. The vitamin therapy which may comprise a niacin, 100 mg. three times daily and vitamin A in large doses up to 1,50,000 units per day should not exceed one month. Vitamin E is also vitally important to prevent scarring from acne and in removing old scars.
Another effective remedy in the realm of nutrition that seems to offer new promise of help for acne is zinc. It has shown dramatic results in some cases. Zinc should be taken in therapeutic doses of 50 mg. three times a day. After noticeable improvement it can be gradually reduced.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a popular home remedy for acne. It is an essential oil that is diluted and applied topically to acne lesions.
How is tea tree oil believed to work? Tea tree oil contains a constituent called terpinen-4-ol that's thought to be responsible for most of tea tree oil's anti-bacterial activity. Because tea tree oil can kill bacteria, applying topical tea tree oil to acne lesions is believed to kill Propionibacterium acnes, the skin-dwelling bacteria involved in causing acne. Zinc
Zinc is another popular home remedy for acne. A couple of research studies have found that zinc is somewhat effective. While it was more effective than a placebo, antibiotic medication was still more effective. In light of this, it may not be the best option when scarring is a possibility.
Side effects of zinc include digestive upset and a metallic taste in the mouth. At high doses, zinc may lead to copper deficiency, weakened immune function, anemia, and heart problems. There is some concern that higher doses may reduce levels of HDL ("good") chholesterol.
Zinc may also interfere with the absorption of magnesium and iron from food and supplements. It can interfere with the absorption of tetracycline and fluoroquinolone antibiotics and penicillamine. There is also some concern that a particular diuretic, amiloride, can reduce zinc excretion and lead to a toxic build-up in the body.

Natural Remedies for Acne
Acne is a skin condition that millions of individuals deal with, sometimes on a daily basis. Although acne is not a life threatening condition, it can cause great stress. Acne, especially when constantly touched or picked at, can also lead to scaring or even an infection. For that reason, those suffering from acne often look for different ways to seek relief.
When it comes to seeking relief from acne, there are a large number of over-the-counter products that claim to provide relief. In addition to simply just appearing on store shelves, a large number of over-the-counter acne medications are also appearing on our television screens and with famous celebrities standing behind the products. Of course, if you are suffering from acne you can give these over-the-counter products a try, but it is also important to know that you do have a number of different options. These options involve the use of natural remedies and home remedies, which are a safer way to treat acne, as they do not rely on the use of potentially dangerous chemicals.
There are a number of natural remedies for acne that rely on the use of food. One of those remedies is that of lettuce. Saturating lettuce in water for about an hours worth of time will result in a special mixture. This mixture should then be applied to the skin, acting as a rinse. This approach is a nice and easy way to get rid of unwanted acne.
Fresh lime juice and milk are another natural remedy for getting rid of acne that comes highly rated and recommend. With this natural remedy for acne, boil a half of glass of milk. Once that milk has cooled, add in about the same amount of lime juice. You can then use a cloth to apply the mixture onto your acne infected area. As an important reminder, wait until the boiled milk has cooled to an ideal level to promote comfort and prevent burns.
For a small area of acne, ripe tomatoes can be used. For this home remedy, cut a ripe tomato in half and place the inside, wet portion of the tomato on the pimple or pimples. Home Remedies For Acne: Dos and Don’ts
Many home remedies for acne that have been passed down through the generations simply don’t work. How many times have you heard that teenagers have more acne because they probably eat more pizza or cheeseburgers? Stop eating chocolate and your face will clear up. Stop eating greasy food. People keep repeating these “cures” and other home remedies for acne, even though medical science has proven they’re not based in fact.
Eating pizza, chocolate or cheeseburgers will only affect your skin if you’re sensitive to something in the food. No doubt there are some people who will break out after eating pizza. That doesn?t mean that greasy pizza causes acne in everyone, just those people. So blanket cures like that aren’t effective, but they keep getting passed along because they sound like they make sense.
Most home remedies for acne get passed along for the same reason. It sounds good to think that if you do this or use that it’ll clear up your skin. But unfortunately for many people those great sounding remedies just don’t work.
Acne isn’t just annoying or troubling to your appearance. When your face is broken out it can do serious damage to your self-esteem and self-confidence. It’s more than just sighing with irritation as you look in the mirror and see a pimple. It can become a serious problem emotionally, and if there’s teasing about it as is often the case with kids, it can do long-term damage. It can cause long-term damage in the form of skin scarring, too.
There are some good “don’ts” that have gotten passed down through the years, though, even if most of the cures don’t work.
Don’t pick or squeeze your pimples. This is an almost certain way to end up with a scar. And if you’re worried about your current appearance, picking and squeezing will only redden and irritate the area, making it even more noticeable.
Don’t squeeze your skin to remove blackheads. You might think it’ll be great to remove that blackhead that you see every time you look in the mirror. But squeezing it out actually makes it easier for another blackhead to form later. When you squeeze, it might pop out of your skin but you’re putting pressure in the other direction also, making the pore deeper. This lets oil and dirt get a little deeper into your skin, and makes another blackhead more likely, and more difficult to remove. There are home remedies for acne that tell you to steam your face and then squeeze, but if you have issues with blackheads you might want to talk to a dermatologist about the best methods of removal.
Instead, do wash your face gently but thoroughly with a textured cleanser or a textured cloth and your ordinary soap. Don’t scrub hard and irritate your skin, however. Some home remedies recommend light scrub-textured pads of or even mixing a little salt into your cleanser to remove built up dead skin cells and oil so blackheads can be gently washed away.

Effective Medical Treatments For Acne For Clear Skin
If you have tried home remedies and haven?t been able to successfully control your acne then it is time to talk with your doctor or a dermatologist about starting medical treatment for your acne. There are several options available to you and your doctor can help you determine which treatment option is the best for your skin needs and situation.
The first option most doctors will recommend is topical antibiotics and antibacterials. Drugs in this category include erythromycin, clindamycin, sulfacetamide and azelaic acid. A second option is the use of Retinoids. The most popular option is Retin-A which has been around for awhile and offers a mild and gentle solution while still being effective. Two newer retinoids available through your doctor include adapalene and tazarotene. Both of these medications do well when unclogging pores but some side effects including irritation and a mild increase in sensitivity to the sun. However, you can still use these products on sunny days as long as you use proper protection.
If topical products aren?t effective your doctor may recommend trying oral antibiotics. Typically a doctor will start with tetracycline or a similar product such as doxycycline and minocycline. Other drugs that have been proven useful for acne treatment include cefadroxil, amoxicillin and sulfa drugs. Some allergic reactions can occur with these drugs such as gastrointestinal upset and increased sensitivity to the sun. Doxycycline can also cause esophagitis which is an irritation of the esophagus that causes discomfort when swallowing and an increased chance of sunburn.
While many are concerned about taking oral antibiotics for long periods of time there is no risk of a weakened immune system from taking antibiotics orally for months or longer. You will not be more susceptible to infections or unable to use other antibiotics when necessary just because you are taking antibiotics for your acne. The only risk from long-term antibiotic use was found in recent studies of breast cancer, but further study is still necessary.
Consider laser acne treatment:
For serious cases of acne or scars then laser treatments can be a good option. During recent years reports have shown good success with lasers and similar devices to treat acne either by itself or along with photosensitizing dyes. These treatments are also very safe and effective, but it isn?t yet known how long the effects last. Laser treatment is still considered an adjunct to regular acne therapy and is not yet a substitute.
Lastly there is the option of chemical peels. There are superficial peels using glycolic acid that are done by estheticians and then there are deeper chemical peels which are done in the doctor?s office. However, chemical peels will only offer you modest, supportive benefits and are generally not considered a substitute for regular acne treatments.
There are many medical treatments for acne available and one of them should help you get rid of your acne issue. However, it is always important to discuss the issue with your doctor so they can tell you of all the side effects and help you choose which acne treatment option will be best for your individual needs.

How To Get Rid Of Pimples Overnight, For That Flawless Skin
Author: Robert Sheehan
It is true treating pimples needs both patience and persistence, but sometimes time is the thing you are short of. You desperately need them off your face at any cost; the world seems almost cruel otherwise. You almost feel like tearing your hair out thinking of how to get rid of pimples overnight and it is for situations like these that there are over the counter drugs and ointments.
However, just using medicines will not relieve you of the pimples, there are rules you have to follow to make it work out right. There are Dos and Do nots and always remember some things are better left alone, messing with them is not advisable. For example, if you think the easiest way out of your ordeal would be to pop your zits, you are definitely wrong.
Most of the time, overnight pimple cures are just an overblown phrase because an overnight cure for pimples is almost impossible to devise without a change in your lifestyle. Especially if you are used to having a stressful life and you have a biased diet. Try to make it a balanced one including food that would also make it into a cleansing diet. Talking of cleansing, there is no substitute for water, thus make drinking 8-10 glasses of water each day a part of your daily routine.
Tips for overnight cure
Some home remedies however can rid you of pimples sometimes overnight and even if not overnight by not more than half a day.
You could use the white of an egg to dab on your pimple. Once left on for around 20 minutes it usually helps and dries up the pimple. Another unique method would be to apply toothpaste; preferably not the gel type on the pimple and it has the same effect.
Cleaning the skin is an essential part of curing pimples and the cleaning needs special care when you need to cure pimples overnight. If you wash your face with a soap enriched with aloe vera it can help you immensely. You could also try cleaning your skin with apple cider vinegar, or a more simple remedy would be to clean it with lemon juice.
Before you start any pimple remedy, you must be sure that the acne is not caused due to an allergic reaction to any food or cosmetics. The cure could otherwise have an adverse effect on the acne.
Your skin is unique and different from everyone else's and therefore you should remember that what works for someone else might not work for you and vice versa. Therefore, it would be advisable if you try out the different methods beforehand to know which one suits you.
You could also pay your family physician a visit, who might just as well recommend you to a dermatologist. Both the doctor and the dermatologist might have ideas that would truly rid you of that pimple overnight.
