Following are some of the effective home remedies for body odor:
- Prepare a mixture of few drops of glycerin and radish juice. It acts as a good home remedy for controlling body odor. Apply this mixture on feet, underarms, neck etc.
- Another useful home remedy for body odor is potato. In order to prevent excess sweating you can rub slices of potatoes under your arms. This will keep you cool and control body odor and perspiration.
- Prepare a mixture of white vinegar and alcohol. It is a natural and safe remedy for controlling body odor and perspiration.
- Apply apple cider vinegar on neck, under arms and other body parts to control sweat.
- Mix rosemary oil or tea tree oil in a small quantity of water and use this mixture on underarms, neck, chest, back, and thighs. This is very useful to get rid of body odor and perspiration.
- You can directly apply turnip juice on sweat prone area. It is very effective in controlling body odor and perspiration.
- You can also apply some antifungal soap available in the market, like neem soap that control body odor.
- Tomato is also used in getting rid of bad odor. Add 2 cups of tomato juices in your bath tub and enjoy a refreshing bath.
- Take 2 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and apply this mixture on the body parts, like neck, underarms. It is very helpful especially in summers to control your body odor.
Herbal Remedies for Body Odor

Body odor is the unpleasant smell which comes from a person's body, beacuse of the bacteria growing on it. We have the idea that with perspiration or sweating comes body odor. But this is wrong. It is not perspiration but the bacteria that gets accumulated on the skin that causes body odour. These bacteria grow faster in the presence of sweat and this is why, people smell more when they perspire. Resort to home remedies to cure the problem of body odor naturally.
Remedies for body odor
Drink a glass of water in the morning, on an empty stomach, along with 500 mg wheat grass. The chlorophyll present in the grass will help in reducing body odor.
Rub a lime under arms in the morning and see how good you smell all day.
Clean the underarm and groin area with water and a deodorant soap, at least once a day and more often if required.
You can also apply baking soda to your armpits as well as to your feet, to reduce body odor. It will soak up sweat and kill bacteria. You can also mix baking soda with lemon juice.
While taking your bath, add alcohol or white vinegar to a mug of water and use it to rinse the armpits.
Take showers, at least thrice in a day, in the summer season.
Wear cotton clothes throughout summer so that the sweat is soaked up.
Make use of antibacterial soap or deodorant soap.
During summers, you can apply the baby powder or talc to your armpits, in place of deodorants.

Instead of deodorant, one can use apple cider vinegar to reduce the pH of the skin and eliminate armpit odor. Put it in a mug of water and use it to rinse the armpits, while bathing.
Prepare a homemade deodorant with the juice of about two dozen radishes and 1/4 teaspoon glycerin. Mix the liquids well and pour into a spray-top bottle. Spray this in the armpits to fight body odor. Store the mixture in fridge.
Mix two drops of the tea tree oil (essential oil) in water and pur it in a spray-top bottle. Use this as a deodorant.
Diet to avoid
There is a straight relation between what a person eats and his body odor. Stay away from white flour, hydrogenated oils, refined sugar, and other processed foods. Avoid red meat. Avoid foods that do not have fiber. Keep away from alcohol, caffeine, cumin and garlic.
