Vomiting Remedies

Ginger Tea

Ginger is the known to be one of the fastest acting of all vomiting remedies. Take a 2 inch section of fresh ginger root and slice it up. Put the ginger in a saucepan and add 3 cups of water. Simmer this mixture for about 10 minutes.

Although not as effective, you can substitute 2 teaspoons of dried ginger or ginger powder in lieu of fresh ginger.

Goldenseal

Take 1/2 teaspoon of tincture every 2 to 3 hours as needed.

Slippery Elm

Another one of the more effective vomiting remedies is slippery elm. Mix 1 teaspoon of slippery elm powder with 1 cup of boiling water. Drink 1/2 a cup of tea, 3 times per day. It's can be thick, so drink it by the spoonful if necessary.

Water

Vomiting causes the body to loose a lot of fluid. It is important that you don't allow yourself to get dehydrated. At the top of the list, drink water, then tea or Gatorade or Pedialyte.

Your body is almost 70% water and water is easily absorbed into the system. These drinks should be taken at room temperature or warm in the case of tea. Do not drink cold drinks or carbonated drinks.

Only drink 1 to 2 ounces at at time.

Ginger Soak

None of these vomiting remedies will work too well in the event that anything put into your stomach immediately comes back up. In severe cases like that, try the following method of using ginger:

Take 1 quart of hot water and mix in about 1 tablespoon of fresh or powdered ginger and let it cool. Make two batches of this mixture.

Take one batch and soak your feet in it, take the other batch and soak your hands in it. This allows the herb to enter your system through the pores of your skin.

Ginger Root

If you can handle it, chew on a small piece of fresh ginger root. Warning, this will be very hot and spicey. Chew on it for about 30 minutes, after that, you can swallow it or spit it out.
