Home Remedies for Sore Throat

Sore threat is very irritating, especially when our work is related to public speaking. Usually, it could be accompanied with cough due to an infection of the lungs, causing a secretion of mucous. Most sore throat is cause by common cold.

Also if you are always feel tired, it could weaken your immune system and thus any bacteria or virus will happily hit you so easy. The most important thing is get your energy back to avoid tiredness.

Moreover, natural remedies for common cold must complement your healing methods. This will also treat the sore throat. Here are the Home Remedies that can be used:

- Ginger is a very effective remedy that is used in various ways to treat sore throat. In fact, ginger canbe used as a treatment for coughs and colds, which are the causes of sore throat. Ginger can be taken in the form of a tea, or it can be made into hot beverage with plain water and sugar. The juice of ginger is also taken with honey in order to treat sore throats.

- Add a teaspoon of cumin seeds to boiling water. Put some pieces of garlic in it. Allow this to simmer for a few seconds. When simmered enough, set it aside to get cooled. This preparation is to be drunk as a beverage while still slightly warm. It helps relieve sore throat.

- Boil water. Add a dash of cinnamon, a little piece of ginger, 1 tablespoon honey and drink.

- Take 1 tablespoon fresh ginger juice, 1 tablespoon honey and a pinch of turmeric. Swallow this mixture at least three times a day.

- Pour one cup of boiling water over a piece of ginger, ground cloves and cinnamon. Filter it, sweeten with honey and have it sip by sip. This helps when there is mucus in the cough.

- Add a raw onion, 2 cloves, 4-5 mint leaves, 2-3 black peppercorns and a small stick of cinnamon to a glass of water. Boil it thoroughly, strain and have while it is still warm. To reduce the spicy taste, you could add 1 tablespoon of honey.

- Heat water with 2 tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoon of honey and sip.

- Use of mango bark is very beneficial in sore throat. Make a gargle by mixing 10 ml of the fluidextract with 125 ml of water. This is one of the effective and simple home remedies for sore throat.

- The leaves of the holy basil have also been found beneficial in the treatment of sore throat. The water boiled with basil leaves should be taken as a drink or can also be used as a gargle. This is also effective natural remedy for sore throat.

- Take 4 cloves of garlic, 1 tbsp. Honey, 1/8 tablespoon cayenne and mix them together, take a spoonful when needed and chew it up well before swallowing as this provides relief and is good natural remedy for sore throat.

- Make a tea by adding 1 or 2 teaspoons of dried chamomile blossoms to a pint of boiling water and drink a cup after every few hours.

- Mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, a pinch of cayenne pepper extracted juice of 1/4 a lemon, and 1 teaspoon of honey. Add to this 1 cup of hot water and stir well. Drink this up to 4 cups a day for sore throat relief.

- The spice cinnamon is also regarded as an effective sore throat remedy. Powdered spice boiled in a glass on water with a pinch of pepper powder and honey is highly beneficial in the treatment. The oil of cinnamon mixed with honey also provides relief.

- Cut an onion, put in a cup with a top, soak with honey, cover the cup and leave for one hour, swallow 1spoon of the honey after every few hours to get relief. This is also effective home remedy for sore throat.

- Daily dry friction bath is also beneficial for the sore throat.

- A hot Epsom salt bath will be highly beneficial.
GARGLES FOR SORE THROAT

- An infusion of the seeds mixed with common salt can be used as a gargle in acute condition.

- Make a tea with 25 grams fresh sage in 600 ml of water and add one-fourth teaspoon of cayenne. Allow it to cool and strain it before drinking.

- Infuse one teaspoon of dried red sage in one cup of boiling water. Cover and leave for 10 minutes, then strain and add vinegar. This can be used for gargling four times a day and can be drunk as a tea without adding vinegar.

- Add 2 sprigs of coarsely chopped parsley, 3 whole spice cloves, 1 teaspoon of powdered myrrh, and 1/4 teaspoon powdered goldenseal to 1 pint of boiling water to prepare the tea. Stir use as a gargle or mouthwash.

- Put four teaspoons of salt in a liter of water. Warm the water, but not too much. It should be just alright for gargling. Gargle with this water for twenty minutes. If you gargle in the night before going to bed, then if it is a simple sore throat, it will be gone by morning.

- Heat one glass of water, add a tablespoon of salt and gargle. Be careful not to swallow the water as it may make you feel like throwing up.

- A gargle prepared from fenugreek seeds is also beneficial in the sore throat treatment.

DIETARY GUIDELINES

- Ghee can be had in little amounts.

- Flavoring the food with spices such as ginger, black pepper, salt and garlic is beneficial.


DON’T’s

- Avoid milk and milk products if you have excess mucous secretion for one month.

- Do not expose yourself to cold water and cold climate for a few days.

- Curds and other sour foods must be avoided.

- Fried foods are extremely aggravating for this condition.

- Oil must be avoided in all forms. Even a trace of oil in the food can compound the problems

- It is very dangerous to consume anything that is cold or refrigerated when there is a throat infection. This will make the sore throat so severe that even swallowing food and breathing might become difficult. Even foods with a cold propensity such as cucumbers, bananas, watermelons, papayas, etc. must be avoided.

- It is not advisable to have a head bath until the sore throat condition lasts.
